Who is Elon Musk? 

Elon Musk is a South-African-born American entrepreneur, investor, media proprietor, and business magnate. Since the beginning of 2021, he has been in the top spot of the world's richest people list richer than Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos. He is the founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer at SpaceX; early-stage investor, CEO, and Product Architect of Tesla, Inc.

Musk was born to a Canadian mother and White South African father and raised in Pretoria, South Africa. He briefly attended the University of Pretoria before moving to Canada at age 17 to avoid conscription. He was enrolled at Queen's University and transferred to the University of Pennsylvania two years later, where he received a bachelor's degree in economics and physics.

In 2002, Musk founded SpaceX, an aerospace manufacturer, and space transport services company, of which he is CEO and Chief Engineer. In 2004, he joined electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, Inc. (now Tesla, Inc.) as chairman and product architect, becoming its CEO in 2008. In 2006, he helped create SolarCity, a solar energy services company that was later acquired by Tesla and became Tesla Energy.

Elon Musk Buys Twitter

Recently, among the world's hot and trending news headlines and topics, Elon Musk in the process of buying Twitter comes in the first row. Yes, the world's wealthiest person is in the process of buying Twitter, an American microblogging and social networking service. It was Elon's big desire to buy one of the world's most popular and expensive social media sites in 2017. In December 2017, in response to a tweet suggesting Musk buy Twitter, Musk replied, "How much is it?".

Musk joined Twitter for the first time in June 2009. As of now, he has over 84.7 million followers.  On April 14, 2022, Elon Musk proposed to buy out Twitter, Inc., after previously acquiring 9.1% of the company's stock for $2.64 billion. On April 25, Twitter's board of directors unanimously accepted Musk's buyout offer of $44 billion, with the company set to become privatized. As of April 2022, the acquisition is pending approval from regulators and shareholders.

The reason behind Musk's desperate want to buy Twitter is to open-source the algorithm that ranks tweets in the content feed, in order to increase transparency. He has stated his intention to remove the spambots and to authenticate all real humans. He also proposes an "edit button", and converting the San Francisco headquarters into a homeless shelter.

Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in the world according to both the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and the Forbes real-time billionaires list. As of April 2022, he has an estimated net worth of around US$273 billion. He was first listed on the Forbes Billionaires List in 2012, with a net worth of $2 billion. At the start of 2020, Musk had a net worth of $27 billion. By the year's end, his net worth had increased by $150 billion.

In November of 2020, Musk passed Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg to become the third-richest person in the world; a week later he passed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to become the second-richest. In January 2021, Musk, with a net worth of $185 billion, surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the richest person in the world and is still at the top spot.
