Duffy was born as Aimee Anne Duffy on 23 June 1984 in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales, the UK to an English father of Irish ancestry, John Duffy, and mother, Joyce. She was partly raised in Nefyn with her twin sister, Kate, and older sister Kelly Ann.
