His father, Mohammed Ghaus, worked as an auto-rickshaw driver, while his mother, Shabana Begum, is a homemaker. He has a brother named Mohammed Ismail, who was a former software engineer. Mohammed Siraj began his cricket journey in November 2015, representing Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy, and quickly transitioned to T20 cricket in January 2016. He shone as Hyderabad's top wicket-taker in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, and his talent earned him a spot in the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2017 IPL season and later with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018. He continued to impress in List A cricket and secured spots in India A and India B squads. However, his standout moment came on October 21, 2020, when he became the first IPL bowler to deliver consecutive maiden overs in a single match.
