Kim Yo-jong is a North Korean politician. She is serving as First Deputy Director and de facto leader of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers' Party of Korea since 2014. Kim Yo-jong is the youngest daughter of former supreme leader Kim Jong-il. Her brother is Kim Jong-un, the current supreme leader. She is considered to be a possible successor to Kim Jong-un. Also, she is an alternate member of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Yo-jong was born on 26 September 1987 in Pyongyang, North Korea. Her mother's name is Kim Jong-il and her father's name is Ko Yong-hui. She has three brothers and one sister, North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un (brother), Kim Jong-Nam, Kim Sol-song, and Kim Jong-Chul. She and her brother, Kim Jong-un, are said to have a close relationship due to shared isolated years while studying together in Switzerland. She may have studied at the Kim Il-sung Military University after her return. She also studied computer science at Kim Il-sung University where she is said to have studied with Kim Eun-Gyong, the daughter of Japanese abductee Megumi Yokota. She belongs to North Korea nationality and her zodiac sign is Libra.
In September 2010, Kim's first public appearance was at a photo session for participants at the 3rd Conference of the WPK. When she stood next to her father's secretary and alleged mistress Kim Ok. She released her first public statement in defense of the policy, chastising South Korea for their complaints about North Korea's military exercises. Under her brother's rule, Kim became acting director of the National Defense Commission before earning her appointment to the Propaganda and Agitation Department in late 2014. Underscoring her prominence in the WPK, Kim issued her first orders to the all-female units of the Korean People’s Army in late 2019.
The following March, she released her first public statement in defense of the policy, chastising South Korea for their complaints about North Korea's military exercises. She serving to her brother's envoy, if not the official head of the North Korean delegation, she drew attention for her meetings with President Moon and her strategic placement behind U.S. Vice President Mike Pence at the Olympics' opening ceremony. Kim Yo-jong accompanied her brother to his high-profile denuclearization talks with President Trump, the first held in Singapore in June 2018 and the second in Hanoi, Vietnam, in February 2019. After the two sides abruptly ended negotiations during the latter summit, Kim Jong-un reportedly blamed his sister for the failure and had her removed from the politburo, before reinstating her in April 2020. For her leadership role in the Propaganda and Agitation Department, Kim was among the seven North Koreans sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in early 2017 for "serious human rights abuses and censorship activities."
In January 2015, Kim Yo-jong married Choe Song. He is the second son of government official Choe Ryong-Hae. Kim Yo-jong was expecting a child in May 2015. She was reported to be pregnant in spring 2015, and again around the time of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
