His father, Lee Woon-seong, worked as a taekwondo instructor in Incheon and was a dedicated football fan, particularly admiring the late Diego Maradona. Kang Sung-mi is the name of his mother. As the youngest of three children, with two older sisters, he grew up in a household that fostered his love for football. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) officially announced the acquisition of Lee on 8 July 2023, securing the South Korean player's services with a 5-year contract that extends until 2028.
