Josua Tuisova embarked on his rugby journey in Fiji, initially playing sevens for Westfield Barbarians, a team captained by his older brother and former Fiji sevens player, Pio Tuwai. His international sevens debut for Fiji took place at the 2013 Wellington Sevens against Scotland. In July 2013, Tuisova was signed by the French Top 14 club RC Toulonnais (Toulon), where he made his debut and notched his first try in subsequent matches. 

In May 2015, he extended his stay at Toulon with a four-year deal. His versatile rugby union career has seen him excel in positions like wing, centre, and number 8, playing for Toulon, Lyon, and currently Racing 92.
