NFL Career

Beginning as a walk-on running back at the University of Cincinnati, Jason Kelce transitioned to fullback and later settled into the offensive line after redshirting his first year. In 2007, he contributed as a center and guard, playing a key role in the Bearcats' 10–3 season, culminating in a victory in the PapaJohns.com Bowl. As a sophomore in 2008, Kelce made 13 starts at left guard, aiding an offensive line that propelled the Bearcats to an 11–3 record and a Big East championship.

The following year, in 2009, he earned second-team All-Big East honors while starting 13 games at left guard for the undefeated Bearcats, who secured another Big East title but fell to Florida in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Kelce's versatility shone in his senior season of 2010 when he transitioned to center. Despite the team's 4–8 record under new coach Butch Jones, Kelce's performance earned him Honorable Mention All-America and second-team All-Big East accolades, completing a notable 47-game career with 38 starts.

Selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Jason Kelce faced a unique challenge as the NFL lockout delayed his ability to practice or sign a contract until July 25, 2011. Signing a four-year deal on July 27, Kelce, under the guidance of new offensive line coach Howard Mudd, impressed with his quickness and stoutness, drawing comparisons to Jeff Saturday.

Despite a preseason setback against the Cleveland Browns, Kelce became the Eagles' starting center in 2011, marking a historic rookie season as the first in Eagles history to start all 16 games at center. The subsequent years showcased Kelce's resilience, including an unfortunate injury sidelining him for the 2012 season, followed by a standout 2013 season where he played a pivotal role in the Eagles' playoff run, earning accolades from Pro Football Focus as the best center in the NFL and receiving the Ed Block Courage Award.

Jason Kelce's journey with the Philadelphia Eagles soared to new heights. After signing a lucrative six-year, $37.5 million contract extension in 2014, Kelce faced adversity in 2017, undergoing surgery for a sports hernia yet still earning his first Pro Bowl nod. The subsequent years showcased his enduring prowess, with Kelce securing consecutive Pro Bowl selections and First-team All-Pro honors. In 2018, he delivered a memorable speech during the Eagles' Super Bowl parade, celebrating their victory in Super Bowl LII.

Kelce's durability became evident in 2020 when he started his 100th consecutive game, a testament to his resilience in the face of the team's offensive line challenges. Despite a brief setback in 2021 due to COVID protocols, Kelce's impact persisted, earning him a fifth Pro Bowl selection and recognition as the Eagles' Walter Payton Man of the Year finalist. March 11, 2022, marked another milestone as Kelce, contemplating retirement, inked a new one-year deal worth $14 million, solidifying his status as the highest-paid center in the NFL, and he continued to excel with Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors in the 2022 season.

In Super Bowl LVII, a historic matchup unfolded as Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs, where Kelce's brother, Travis Kelce, played. This marked the first Super Bowl to showcase two brothers on opposing teams as players. However, despite a closely contested game, Jason and the Eagles ultimately fell to Travis and the Chiefs, with a final score of 38–35. Following contemplation of retirement, Kelce opted to re-sign with the Eagles on a one-year contract on March 15, 2023. In a standout moment during the season, in week 6, Kelce achieved a milestone by breaking the Eagles' record for the most consecutive starts, surpassing the previous record held by Jon Runyan.
