David Silva is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for and captains Premier League club Manchester City. He is the recipient of the Pedro Zaballa Award in 2005 and Manchester City Players' Player of the Year for 2011–12. David Silva began his early football career by playing in the youth team of UD San Fernando at the age of 9 from 1995 to 2000. When he was 14, he received an offer to become a youth player at Valencia CF, which he accepted. He stayed in Valencia's youth set-up until he was 17.
David Silva made his professional debut in 2004–05, with Segunda División's (Laliga 2) Eibar FC, while on loan from Valencia FC.
