Cappie Pondexter is an American former professional basketball player who is best known for her scrappy play, quick crossovers, and midrange jump shot. She played as a point guard as an active professional player before retiring from professional basketball in April 2019.

She began her WNBA career by being selected 2nd overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft by the Pheonix Mercury. In her three years with the team, she helped them win two WNBA championships in 2007 and 2009 respectively. She was also named the Most Valuable Player of the 2007 WNBA Finals after averaging 22 points per game in the five-game series. In March 2010, she joined New York Liberty as part of a three-team, multiplayer agreement. Fans picked her as one of the Top 15 players in the WNBA's fifteen-year history in 2011. She was regular in her 5 seasons with the New York Liberty. She then got traded to the Chicago Sky for a fellow basketball player, Epiphanny Prince in February 2015. Cappie played for Chicago Sky for three seasons as a regular before signing with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2018. However, she got released by the team in June 2018. She was then signed by the Indiana Fever in July 2018 as a free agent. In her 13 years of WNBA career, she got named WNBA All-Star seven times and was included in All-WNBA First Team three times.
