Bindi Sue Irwin is an Australian conservationist, television personality, zookeeper, author, and actress. She is the daughter of the late wildlife expert Steve Irwin and conservationist Terri Irwin, and today stands as one of the most recognized voices in wildlife advocacy. Bindi rose to international fame through her childhood television roles, her family’s conservation work at Australia Zoo, and her 2015 victory on Dancing with the Stars (U.S.), before becoming a leading figure in conservation and women’s health awareness.

Bindi Irwin was born on 24 July 1998, in Buderim, Queensland, Australia, and grew up within the vibrant environment of Australia Zoo in Beerwah, where her parents dedicated their lives to wildlife conservation. Named after her father's favorite crocodile and her mother’s family dog, Bindi was introduced to animals from infancy.
She is the older sister of Robert Irwin, who is also a prominent young conservationist. Raised in a family deeply committed to wildlife preservation, Bindi began appearing on television at a very young age. She was largely homeschooled, allowing her to balance education with her role in the family’s public conservation mission.
Bindi Irwin first appeared on her father’s show, The Crocodile Hunter. After he passed away in 2006, she continued his work. In 2007, she launched Bindi the Jungle Girl and appeared in the tribute film My Daddy the Crocodile Hunter. She also performed with The Crocmen and released a kids’ fitness DVD. At age nine, she became the youngest Daytime Emmy winner.
As a teen, Bindi acted in movies like Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove and Return to Nim’s Island. She wrote children’s books and appeared on many TV shows. In 2015, she won Dancing with the Stars (U.S.). In 2018, her family launched Crikey! It’s the Irwins on Animal Planet.

Wildlife conservation has always been her main focus. She works with her family’s charity, Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. By 2025, she became the CEO of Australia Zoo. In 2024, she released a children’s book called You Are a Wildlife Warrior! to inspire kids to protect nature.
Throughout her life, Bindi Irwin has received numerous awards and recognitions, including:
In 2013, Bindi met American wakeboarder Chandler Powell during his visit to Australia Zoo. The two began a long-distance relationship until Chandler eventually relocated to Australia to join the Irwin family’s conservation work.
The couple became engaged on Bindi’s 21st birthday in 2019 and married on 25 March 2020 at Australia Zoo. On the first anniversary of their wedding, they welcomed their daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, born 25 March 2021.
Bindi has expressed that Grace may be their only child, largely due to the health challenges Bindi herself has faced.
In 2023, Bindi publicly revealed that she had been suffering from severe chronic pain for over a decade before being diagnosed with endometriosis. During her first surgery, doctors removed 37 lesions and a large ovarian cyst.
Her health challenges continued, and in 2025, she underwent emergency surgery while in the United States. Doctors removed her appendix, repaired a childbirth-related hernia, and removed an additional 14 endometriosis lesions, bringing her total to 51 lesions removed over multiple surgeries.
Her public openness about this journey has made her a global advocate for women’s reproductive health, encouraging others to seek answers and reduce stigma surrounding endometriosis.
As of 2025, Bindi Irwin’s estimated net worth is approximately $3.2 million, accumulated through her career as a TV host, actress, author, and conservation leader. She has also launched products such as the children’s clothing line Bindi Wear and continues to generate income through the family’s television series and conservation projects.
