Asuka wrestled there for a couple of years but has to get retired because of a chronic nephritis injury on March 19, 2006. She made her comeback as a freelance wrestler on September 22, 2007, playing for various promotions including NEO Japan Ladies Pro Wrestling, Ice Ribbon, Pro Wrestling Zero1, JWP Joshi Puroresu, and Pro Wrestling Wave. 

 On October 10, 2009, she turned as the winner of the NEO Tag Team Championship sharing with Takahashi. After that, Asuka went for fighting on various promotions like Toryumon Mexico’s DragonMania VII, DDT Pro-Wrestling promotion, Smash promotion,  Pro Wrestling Noah and much more. On September 23, 2015, she made her debut appearance and got the win from her debut match on October 7 at NXT TakeOver: Respect against Dana.  She continued to earn victories in her account and also turned as the main roster performer Cameron. Asuka in 2016, earned the NXT Women’s Championship which she had to relinquish at the August 24 NXT tapings due to the breaking of her right collarbone. 

Asuka made her return to WWE to the RAW brand. Her signing with the brand was revealed on September 11, 2017, She became the winner of the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a match against Lynch and Flair who were pushed off a ladder by Ronda Rousey. In January 2019. Asuka and Becky were set for a title match at the Royal Rumble on which she retained her title through submission making her women's champion.
